Heather has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She taught third grade in the Chicago area for several years before pursuing a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. In the psychology field, Heather worked with children and adults, both inpatient and outpatient, and completed her doctorate with a one-year internship at the North Chicago Veterans Administration Hospital.
Heather and her husband, Todd, adopted three children from Russia in 1997 & 1999. Due to the kids’ multiple special needs resulting from fetal alcohol exposure, Heather homeschooled their children and acquired the special services/treatments they each required. She is experienced in working on multi-disciplinary teams with physical therapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, mainstream teachers, special education teachers, neuropsychologists, and surgeons.
More than anything, Heather loves Jesus. She views her work as God’s calling to help others develop and live the abundant life Jesus desires for all. Her passion is helping others optimize their spiritual, emotional, physical, and relational health by developing an understanding of how biblical truth applies to our every-day lives. She hopes her students will grow in their ability to love God, themselves, and others.
And [Jesus] said to him, “You shall love the Lord you God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-38 ESV
